File Formats
We can work with a wide range of file formats, but for maximum print quality we recommend submitting files in one of the following formats (Mac or PC):
- Adobe InDesign CS or CS2
- Adobe Illustrator CS and CS2 (older formats supported as well)
- Adobe PDF (See PDF Guidelines Below)
- QuarkXPress 6.x
If necessary, we can also accept files in popular office programs including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher. If you will be designing files in one of these formats, contact us to discuss the specific requirements prior to submission.
General Guidelines
Following these few simple rules will help ensure your job is produced quickly and accurately.
- Make sure all colors are in the CMYK color space, and that PMS colors are defined as "Spot" in the application's Swatches pallette.
- When possible, use only Type 1 Postscript and OpenType fonts. Truetype fonts can be used, but are not preferred. Do not use Multiple Master fonts.
- If submitting PDF files, make sure files are exported or "Distilled" using a press-quality setting where colors are in CMYK and images are a minimum of 300dpi.
- If submitting native application files, perform the "Package" or "Collect For Output" command under the file menu. Also collect all fonts used in the document and any linked graphics.
- If submitting files in Adobe Illustrator format, choose "Embed Image" in the Links palette for any placed images.
